ABOUT ABOUT

KIZ N CHILL is proud to present BEYOND ROLES: In this workshop, we'll dedicate time to helping everyone experience connection and reactivity that will help you whether you are leading or following. This workshop is not limited to dancers who want to learn the other role but also help you understand your current role as lead or follow. We'll also work on letting go of control to make you a more observant and flexible dancer.

Leading Ladies: Whether you're a confident Ambi-dancer or a follow just getting interested in learning to lead, you're going to want to join us as we grow our community of lady leaders. As we continue to improve our basic Kizomba and Urban Kiz steps, we'll also be discussing and practicing different key concepts to help give you more options and increase your confidence on the dance floor.

Following Fellas:  Learning to follow can help you develop better sensitivity and reactivity in your dancing as well as give you a variety of perspectives on what it takes to be a great lead as you get to experience leads other than your own. It can also help you feel more aware of your body and how you can control it as you dance. Basically, you'll develop superpowers that will turn you into the best dancer possible. Who wouldn't want that?!

About your Instructors:

KAYCEE:

Kaycee Williams is a lover of all things dance. Training in various styles over the years but finding her passion in Kizomba and Urban Kiz. She has trained as a lead and follow simultaneously throughout her entire Kizomba journey. She has been dedicated to growing her local community in St. Louis where she teaches weekly, while also traveling nationally and globally to refine her skills. Kaycee is passionate about growing an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, and comfortable dancing to their best ability.

KAT:

When Kat started latin dancing in 2014, she realized what had been missing her whole life. She discovered Kizomba not long after that and the rest is history. While she trained in Kizomba  and Urban Kiz as much as she could without being a part of a scene, it wasn’t until she moved to Indiana in 2017 that she found her Kizomba family and started training and teaching with Southern Indiana Kizomba (SoInKiz) and Columbus Kizomba. Her teaching focuses mainly on technique and adding variety to foundational skills to create confident and musical dancers from the beginning. In 2018 she started a workshop series, Kiz with Kat, to further develop more well-rounded dancers through role reversal.

COURTNEY: Courtney Lundgren is our very own Chicago Kizomba instructor with a passion for musicality and a focus on Urban Kiz. Since 2017, Courtney has been teaching Kizomba locally in Chicago and across North America at Kizomba and Latin Dance festivals. Courtney’s goal is to create an open environment and share tools to help students master techniques and fundamentals, then develop their own creative and musical style.
